'Assassin's Creed Origins' Lights Among the Dunes 1.40 Quest Guide
Assassin's Creed Origins update 1.40 released Tuesday morning, and adds a new quest called Lights Among The Dunes. In this guide, we'll tell you how to complete the mission and unlock the Spirit-Catcher Bow.
After you've installed Origins' 1.40 update, you should see two new orange quest markers on your map near Krokodilopolis and Hermopolis. Once you approach those markers, you'll hear an NPC ranting about the end of days. Interact with the NPC, or wait for the speech to end, to begin your quest.
Your desired destination is a ways off, so it might be helpful to use the fast-travel point by Uab Nome if it's unlocked. From there you must hop on your best mount and make your way through the desert cliffs. At this point you'll encounter your first swarm of undead foes from the Curse Of The Pharaohs DLC, but you don't have to fight them if you don't want to. They're fairly easy to take care of with a high-level bow.
Once you get near the objective marker, you'll notice a small slit in a wall surrounded by two torches. Go inside and follow the waypoint to a man who needs your help.
After speaking with the man, use the portal nearby to teleport outside. Follow a very obvious beam of light highlighting the artifact. Interact with the artifact and you'll trigger a mandatory encounter with waves of enemies. The bow is helpful here again, but the sequence shouldn't be too difficult considering most of your adversaries don't have weapons. You'll know the fight is nearly over when only a few shielded fighters remain.
The next waypoint basically brings you back to the spot where you had your chat with the man on the ground. Place the artifact on the illuminated wall behind where he was lying. You can kill enemies on the way there if you need the XP.
Once you place the artifact, it triggers a cutscene that culminates in a massive battle with undead enemies. This is a never-ending monster closet, so only stick around if you feel safe enough to grind for XP. Whether you retreatto the tomb's entrance or die in the heat of battle, the end result is the same: the Lights Among The Dunes quest is complete.
